About American Family Hearing Center

Staff PhotoAmerican Family Hearing has operated under the care of Dr. Jennifer Schaal-Sampson since 1995. As a long-established part of first the Allenhurst and now Oakhurst community, we are invested in doing right by our neighbors. We’re here to stay, and the experience our patients have with us is important.

We greatly enjoy seeing our patients return year after year so we can help them with their hearing needs. We know we’ve done our job right when the same patients continue with us for decades, and we’re honored to say that generations of families trust us with their hearing. If you need reliable hearing healthcare from someone who has your best interest in mind, American Family Hearing Center is here to help.

In 2015, we relocated from Allenhurst to a new, specially designed, first-floor facility in Oakhurst, where it remains today. Since 1999, American Family Hearing Center has also had a satellite office at Seabrook Village Medical, available by appointment.

Meet Jennifer Schaal Sampson, AuD

Doctor of Audiology | New Jersey Hearing Aid Dispenser Licence #731 | New Jersey Audiology Licence #399

Dr. Jennifer Schaal-Sampson became the owner of American Family Hearing in 1995 as a young audiologist with a vision. She upgraded her practice with advanced diagnostic and hearing aid fitting techniques, and for the past three decades (and counting), she has worked to keep it cutting-edge and on top of the latest advancements in hearing aid technology.

Dr. Schaal-Sampson was drawn to the field of audiology because it combined two of her passions: working with people and working with technology. She likes to joke that deep down she’s an engineer who enjoys playing with gadgets. She can’t imagine herself doing anything else — she feels privileged to get to help people communicate better with their families and the world around them. She loves that her job is about fixing things, whether that’s fixing communication between people or fixing hearing aids.

Dr. Schaal-Sampson is a graduate of Rutgers University. She received her master’s degree from George Washington University and her Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Florida. Dr. Schaal-Sampson was an adjunct faculty member at the College of New Jersey. She is the former president of the New Jersey Hearing Aid Dispensers Examining Committee which is  responsible for testing and licensing hearing aid dispensers in the state. She is a longtime resident of East Brunswick, where she lives with her school teacher husband, two kids, two dogs, and two cats.
